HOOFIES means hooves. That is where it all began. But behind this name lies much more than just a shop or a symbol associated with horses. Above all, it is a story of helping, responsibility, and everyday care for animals that often come under the care of the Centaurus Foundation after very difficult experiences.

For over 20 years, the Centaurus Foundation has been creating a safe home for animals in need. During this time, thousands of them have been given a chance at a new life – free from fear, hunger, violence, and neglect.

Today, the Centaurus Foundation is one of the largest horse sanctuaries in Europe. Across more than 700 hectares in Poland, nearly 1,500 horses and donkeys live under its care. Each of these animals has its own story. Some were rescued from transport to slaughter, while others were taken from places where proper conditions, medical treatment, or basic care were lacking.

But Centaurus is not only about horses.

A home for thousands of animals

Over the years, farm animals, domestic animals, and wildlife have also come under the Foundation’s care. Pigs, cows, foxes, alpacas, llamas, goats, camels, rabbits, geese, and many other animals have found a safe place here.

Each of them needs daily care.

This means not only providing food and a place to live, but also veterinary treatment, rehabilitation, specialist nutrition, transport, preparation of enclosures, maintenance of infrastructure, and the work of people who look after the animals’ safety every single day.

Helping an animal does not end when it is rescued.

In many cases, that is when the most important part of the story begins – rebuilding its health, sense of safety, and trust.

Hoofies was born from the need to help

Over time, the idea emerged to create an additional space where helping animals could become part of everyday life.

That is how Hoofies.org was created.

It is an online store founded by the Centaurus Foundation, where shopping can mean more than simply choosing a particular product.

By shopping at Hoofies, you support the Foundation’s work and the animals in its care. In this way, even an ordinary purchase can become another part of a much bigger story of helping.

The store offers both products related to the Foundation’s activities and items that can accompany us in everyday life. The idea, however, always remains the same – to connect shopping with real support for animals.

Caring for such a large number of animals every day means meeting an enormous range of needs.

Horses need feed, hay, bedding, and regular farrier and veterinary care. Older or sick animals often require specialist treatment and rehabilitation. Dogs need safe walks, food, and care. Farm animals need suitable enclosures, shelter, and proper nutrition.

There are also fences to repair, buildings to maintain, animals to transport, medicines to buy, equipment to provide, and countless smaller things that are often invisible from the outside.

For more than two decades, the Centaurus Foundation has been able to continue its work thanks to people who care about the fate of animals.

Over the years, a community of donors and supporters from Poland and many other countries has grown around the Foundation. Their support makes it possible to run the sanctuary, rescue more animals, and provide them with care for years to come.

Hoofies is another part of this shared mission.
